I was watching Cougar Town on ABC.com and noticed something. This isn’t the first time I’ve noticed it, it’s the first time I’ve thought about it at any length.

Why is it that movies and TV shows cover over the Apple logo on the laptops and desktops they use? Maybe someone knows more about it and can fill me in. I think it’s a crime to cover up that Apple.

I did some screen caps of the Cougar Town episode that I’m talking about. You can see from the pictures that it’s clearly a MacBook Air that Jules is using. Anyone can see that. Why did they cover up the Apple? I need to know!

Steve Jobs introduced the iPad today. How does it make you feel? Is it cool enough for you to get one? Does it do what you were thinking it would? What most disappoints you?

iPad:
• 9.7 inch LED multi-touch display
• 16, 32, or 64 Gig flash drives
• 1 GHz Apple created chip
• Micrphone
• Speaker
• 30-pin connector
• 10 hour battery life

It plays your music, shows your videos or movies or YouTube, see your photos, you can read books on it, do your e-mail, have your contacts and calendar information on it. It syncs with iTunes. It’s got a digital compass and an accelerometer. You can turn it any way and it turns the display for you. You can purchase things from three different stores….iTunes, Apps Store, and now the new iBooks Store.

The one thing it’s missing that I would want is a camera. I don’t think I’d do a lot of video conferencing but it would be nice if you could. Or even take some pictures with it.

There is a type of file system for saving documents you create with the iPad versions of iWork. You can also upload photos directly from your camera with an adapter. Apple is also offering several accessories like a keyboard dock and a case.

Right now I’ve very excited about having one. Part of me wants to wait to see if the second version is a little bit cheaper and maybe will have a camera. I’m also not sure if I want to wait for a second version.

Will you be getting an iPad?

I can’t believe it’s been exactly two months since I’ve updated this blog! That’s terrible! But there is a reason to update. Apple has announced an event to be held on January 27th. The rumor mill has been churning out all kinds of rumors about the tablet.

The rumors are saying we’ll see the new tablet but at the same time they are saying we’ll be seeing the the iPhone 4.0 software. And added today is the rumor that we’ll be seeing iLife 2010. Could that be possible? Yes, it could be.

But what might we possibly see in an Apple tablet? Not really sure exactly. Wireless, yes. Camera, probably not. Touch screen, most definitely. All the details will come with time. In 9 days we’ll know! I can’t wait!

A friend of mine on Facebook asked this question and got several comments. I thought I’d ask the same question:

When’s the last time your Mac crashed? My answer is my current iMac and my last iMac NEVER crashed. I did have a crash with my G5 iMac but that was SO long ago it doesn’t matter. So…leave a comment and let me know.

Apple introduced new products today. It was quite a surprise for many. There were a few rumors flying around yesterday but I didn’t believe them until I saw the store down this morning. Here are a few highlights.

I think the most impressive introduction today was the new iMac. It now comes in a 21.5 inch screen or a 27 inch screen. That’s huge! And they are both LED backlit. The top o the line 27 inch has a quad core processor. Nice! It comes with 4 ram slots for up to 16 gigs of ram. It also comes with an SD card slot. That’s pretty cool. The iMac now ships with the wireless keyboard and mouse. But you can select to have the wired versions without charge. I think the new iMac is a very cool computer. If hadn’t just gotten one last March, I’d be ordering one today.

Apple also updated the MacBook with a new unibody design with rounded edges. Of course they have updated the processor, ram, etc. It also has the new glass track pad with all the gestures. I just got one of these too recently so I won’t be getting one. Plus, I don’t like how they have removed the headphone jack separate from the audio in port. And they finally got rid of firewire all together. At least my current one still has a firewire 400. I think from now on I’ll be upgrading to the MacBook Pro.

A new mouse was introduced today too. It’s a wireless mouse that uses gestures like a track pad. I’m not sure how I feel about this. Do you still move it? Does it click? This might be hard for me to get used to. I might get one just to see how it works. But does anyone else have issues using the wireless mouse or keyboard for that matter in a high-rise building where others might have wireless networks that conflict with the Bluetooth signal? I remember the first wireless mouse had that issue in my high-rise condo building. Just wondering if that has been fixed or if anyone else has noticed this issue.

Oh, and Apple upgraded the Mac Mini too. Bigger hard drive, etc. No big deal to me. Maybe you are excited about it, but not me.

Apple had a record quarter! How is that possible during a recession?

Yesterday Apple introduced an updated iPod Nano. They also talked about a new iPod Touch, iPod Shuffles, iTunes 9, and iPhone software 3.1. All of those are great but I was excited about the new Nano. I was also glad to see Steve Jobs back. He looks very thin but he was in good spirits.

The new Nano now has a video camera, microphone, and speaker built in. You can record videos at H.264 VGA video, 640 by 480 pixels, up to 30 frames per second with AAC audio. That sounds decent enough for YouTube and other video sharing sites. I’m a little disappointed that you can’t take still pictures with it though. Maybe in the future. Either way, I’m pretty pleased with the update with all the new features and such. I decided to go ahead and order one. I got the green 16 gig version. I’ve already gotten an e-mail from Apple saying it has shipped. It should arrive sometime next week. I will probably post some video that I’ve recorded it on the new Nano so you can see the quality. Stay tuned for more information about it next week.
